Comment on any ICT/Maths lessons you may try this term.

Have a go at using any of the suggestions from the day today (or others of your own) in your class over the next few weeks.

Think about the following things:

  • What did you do?
  • How did you integrate it?
  • Was it effective?
  • Do you think it enhanced the learning and teaching of your lesson?
  • Strengths and weaknesses
  • Would you do anything different?

Feel free to add photos, videos or anything you may think will help other teachers to have a go too.

Digital Storytelling

Today we will be looking at a couple of storytelling tools specifically suited to Early stage 1 – stage 1 students. These tools will enable your students to create and share their stories and develop and showcase their work with a wider audience.

Bookr – Bookr allows you to create a book from the images you have taken and uploaded into Flickr. All you need to do is go into filckr and uplaod images (making them public and attaching tags so you can locate them when you go into Bookr). When you first open Bookr you will have to create a Yahoo account, then you are on your way to creating individual or class books that can be either emailed to share or added onto class blog or webpage.

Here is an example of a book created through Bookr
Dolphins by Sherryn Moore

Storybird – Tour A Tour of Storybird, a great reading and writing tool. Simple, quick and effective.
Look here for the first attempt by a 5 year old. Drag and drop illustrations, text boxes and a quality product created quickly. A very nice tool. Currently you are able to publish it to storybird, accept comments but not embed elsewhere. Students can collaborate.
